Experience the excitement of The Gong Spring Carnival at The Illawarra Turf Club’s premier race meeting. Held annually in November, The Gong combines elite Metropolitan racing, premium hospitality, live entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere to deliver an unforgettable day out on the South Coast.With $2.5 million in prizemoney across a ten-race program, the day is headlined by The Gong, a 1600m quality handicap racing for 1 million dollars introduced in 2019 as part of Racing NSW’s extended Spring Carnival. Since its inception, the race has continued to grow in stature and prestige, culminating in its elevation to Group 3 status in 2024.Supporting the feature is the 1000m sprint race The Warra, carrying $300,000 in prizemoney. Introduced in 2021, The Warra was also upgraded to Group 3 level in 2024. Local businesses can become part of the excitement through The Warra Club, offering the opportunity to secure exclusive naming rights to the race in 2026.Off the track, racegoers can enjoy live entertainment on the Public Lawn throughout the day, a post-race entertainment after the final event, and several public transport options to help patrons get home safely.Run as a standalone metropolitan meeting, The Gong proudly serves as the grand final of the NSW Spring Carnival.
